Picture (Story) Story Templates and Worksheets - Free SEN Resource

Created By: lboyd01

Help children understand new situations, routines and changes with short, personal stories they can read again and again. This printable pack has everything you need to plan, write, illustrate and review a picture story, one small step at a time.

Each story is built from six colour-coded sentence types: descriptive, perspective, directive, affirmative, cooperative and self-regulation. Together they explain what happens, how other people might feel, what the child can try, who can help, and how the child can stay calm.

What’s included

  1. Cover page with a contents list, a five-step guide and a colour key
  2. Planning sheet for the situation, the setting, the steps, what might feel tricky, what helps, and notes about the reader
  3. Sentence type guide with what each type does, starters to try, and an example for each
  4. Story page with six colour-coded, numbered panels
  5. Story page with four larger panels and a tick-box for the sentence type
  6. Story page with one big panel and wide lines, for early readers and writers
